Company History
EnzymeRx was founded and financed in early 2008 to acquire pegsitacase (formerly Uricase-PEG 20) and pursue its clinical development. Since that time, we have assembled a management team possessing expertise across all aspects of drug development with experience in both large pharma and biotech.

Tony managed long-short biotechnology portfolios at Pequot Capital Management, where he spearheaded the financing and product acquisition that led to the creation of EnzymeRx, and at Sands Point Partners, and before that served as a biotechnology analyst at Citigroup Asset Management, a long-only institutional money manager. Before becoming a biotechnology investor, Tony spent his first years on Wall Street as a large-cap U.S. pharmaceuticals analyst at JP Morgan Securities. Prior to entering the world of finance, Tony trained in medicine and dermatology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after completing the M.D.-Ph.D. program at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He received a B.S. in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Tony was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi, and has authored over 20 publications in the medical and scientific literature. Tony is also a director of Stemline, a private biotechnology company.

From December 2003 to May 2006, Elliot was Chief Financial Officer of Emisphere Technologies, a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company specializing in oral drug delivery. He was a partner at Ernst and Young LLP from March 1999 to December 2003 and served as an Associate and subsequently Vice President in the Fixed Income divisions of Goldman Sachs. and JP Morgan Securities from May 1989 to March 1999. Elliot practiced law at Sullivan and Cromwell in New York from September 1985 to April 1989. Elliot serves on the Board of Directors and is Chairman of the Audit Committee of AXM Pharmaceutical. Elliot received his B.A. degree from Touro College in New York and his J.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He is a licensed C.P.A. in the states of New Jersey and New York and is a member of the New York State Bar.
John Bomalaski, MD

He was an intern and medical resident at Northwestern University, then chief medical resident at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and he went on to a rheumatology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. As a faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania and Medical College of Pennsylvania, he rose to full professor of medicine, before moving to industry. He is the author of over 130 publications in over 40 different journals and is also co-author of a book on rheumatology. Dr. Bomalaski is board-certified in internal medicine and rheumatology.
Elizabeth John, PhD
Vice President, Manufacturing
Elizabeth John has most recently served as Head of Research and Development at Centegen, a biotechnology start-up. She brings 17 years of experience in the manufacture of biologics and the regulation of biologics manufacturing to EnzymeRx, and in her career has contributed to multiple INDs, managed several drug development projects, and has interacted closely with both the FDA and foreign regulatory agencies... show full bio
Dr. John received her post-doctoral training in radiopharmaceutical chemistry at Purdue University, a doctoral degree in Chemistry from Rutgers University, and a Masters degree in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras.
John (Zhihua) Zhang, MD, PhD
Vice President, Preclinical Research and Development
Prior to joining EnzymeRx, Dr. Zhang served as Director, Preclinical Pharmacology and Toxicology at Pharmacopeia until its acquisition by Ligand Pharmaceuticals. John obtained a Ph.D. in toxicology from Rutgers Univiversity and performed postdoctoral training in National Cancer Institute of NIH. John also holds an M.S. in public health from UCLA and an M.D. from Guangxi Medical University in China.
Rocelle Flores
Project Manager
Rocelle is the Project Manager for our clinical studies. She joined EnzymeRx from TKL Research, a New Jersey-based contract research organization, where she served as a Clinical Research Coordinator and as a Clinical Trials Associate and was involved in a broad spectrum of documentation, monitoring and management activities across a number of clinical trials..... show full bio
Prior to her time at TKL, Rocelle worked as an Assistant Clinical Coordinator at L'Oreal. Rocelle holds a BS on Biology from Felician College and is a member of the Association of Certified Research Professionals (ACRP).
